Cathy Garren

Cathy brings a strong and successful sales and financial background to Highlands Sotheby’s International Realty. She has over 25 years of real estate experience. Prior to selling real estate, her previous work experience included being a Mortgage Loan Officer and Trust and Estate Officer with First Union National Bank for 10 years. During the role of Trust and Estate Officer, she was a wealth manager with an emphasis on the acquisition and sales of her clients’ real estate and stock portfolios.

Cathy has been active in the real estate industry in Highlands and Cashiers for over 18 years which has included listing, selling, and management. She owned her own office, worked with Harry Norman Realtors, and then transitioned to Highlands Sotheby’s International Realty in 2014. She has also been active with the Highlands-Cashiers Board of Realtors® for many years, including President of the Board and Chairman of the Ethics Committee.

She specializes in Fine Homes and Estate Properties, Conservation Easement Acquisition and Placement, Short Sales and Foreclosures, Large Land Properties, and Investment Properties. She has served as a consultant for the Jackson County Clerk of Court on several property dispute cases.

Born and raised in Western North Carolina, Cathy and her husband, Gary, have now lived and worked in Highlands for 18 years. They have a 19-year-old daughter who attends the University of North Carolina Wilmington an 11-year-old double chocolate dapple Dachshund. Cathy’s hobbies include horseback riding, reading, hiking, and fishing.
